Back to the Parc!

Katie and I decided to go back to picnic/take pictures because we love the parc and we're running out of time!

These lilly pads were prettier in person... but ya know. This is a pond near the botanical garden area. (This parc also has a zoo and paddle boating and pretty much everything)
Mainly we wanted to take pictures of the rose garden. It's not very big, but it's really pretty:

I don't know what is with me and forgetting to zoom out, but this picture made me laugh for a solid 5 minutes.

googley eyes!

And then we realized it was 4 and we were late for meeting Susan! So.. more pictures next time.

Susan's Anniversaire

we went to the Parc de la Tete d'Or June 3 for Susan's birthday which included a lot of RENT reinactments.

Joanne and Maureen... "kiss pookie"

And of course, Roger and Mimi

Dordogne

(sorry if any of the following show up twice.. this site is being kind of funky right now)

Our first outing of Dordogne was going to the medieval town of Sarlat.

One of the old side-streets we walked by

That step was there in medieval times for the purpose of mounting your horse. So, Rachelle's mounting Katie the horse.

A view of the market in Sarlat

I made a friend

And then some more friends

And then I became a goose, but luckily not fois gras

This is literally a herd of geese. The man is leading them and there's a dog following them up from behind

Boat tour! Not very good.. but it was on a pirate ship, so I'll give it to them

The medieval castle from the pirate ship

Looking down on the same river and bridge from the castle

Different kinds of catapults.... a smart little 5 year old knew everything about them!

Pathways...

Doorways...

and swords!

Next day canoeing on a river that had no current. This is Jean and Susan doing the hormone dance. (Both heads braided by me)

That's me in front being the only rower for these three canoes. My boat tied the others to us when we went by them and then somehow I ended up being the only rower.

When we got back at lunch time Rachelle decided to get her hair cut by Maria.

Chateau d'Hautefort. (Where the filmed a lot of Ever After)

Dinner at a random camping like place that had karaoke...the canard was really good. (a specialty of Dordogne along with fois gras)

One of our program leader's boyfriends bought us champagne to celebrate

Maria, Susan, me, and Jean

The next day we actually went to Chateau d'Hautefort.

The surrounding view

Rachelle, Susan, and Jean looking at the gardens down below.

That looked kind of like this, but this is on another side. Not many flowers in bloom yet.. but still cool

This is the point of the tour when Stephan, our bus driver, told our tour guide something about the sphynx statues and so "en fait nous sommes dans une chateau humaniste"

From the green-covered walkway (apparently where the queen and king walk through in Ever After? I don't remember, so I don't know how reliable of an idea that is)

And down to the gardens

I'm not sure if this area ever has flowers... but the bushes are cool

Cloud

The only flower so far in this bed

On the walk out

And a last view of the castle. That's the bus around the corner that I didn't realize was just waiting for Phuong My and I since we were down talking pictures and apparently no one else was. oops.. oh well!
