La Vie en Rose

Winter break was incredibly ambitious of us, but we hit up Edinburgh, Dublin, and London kind of (really just to go from there to Stonehenge)

First: Edinburgh. Our hostel was in the middle of NOWHERE. They had a shuttle from the city that left every hour... yeah. But this was the view from way out wherever we were, and they were pretty well equipped with everything you could possibly need/want also.

We took a hop on hop off bus tour.. so that's us on the top of the double-decker in the FREEZING cold.

And we went to this hill by Holyroot (one of the Queen's three official residences, all of which we saw) and hiked a bit. Apparently that's what Edinburgh people can be found doing on a sunday. (Our purple hair streaked guide was awesome)

We had to beware of rocks

That's us in front of a monument. I would say which one if I could think of it... oops :/

There it is: Edinburgh Castle.

And the park beneath

And the cemetery with skulls on the tombstones attached to the park

Phuong My and I on our way up to the castle.

Jean and Phuong My once we made it

I took this after we got off the bus to walk to Rosslyn Chapel.

By the time we got there it was 20 minutes before closing, so they let us in for free. It was crazy- they have signs to read describing certain features, so we basically read, looked, read, looked, and left. So some highlights from the Chapel:
The Knight's Templar cross

Obviously an upside down angel... I really can't go into all the detail I read

One of the many faces like it

Above are the seven sins and seven virtues on opposite sides of that mold, but the sculptor switched one on each side with each other.. on purpose?

Another one of those face guys

Outside... le deux

And a tree on our way back from the chapel to the bus back to town

The Father of Science in St. Patrick's Cathedral- DUBLIN

St. Patrick's

Jean and I in front of a waterfall at Guinness. And although it looks like beer behind us, it really is water.

Self-explanatory (and before any of you ask, no, I don't like beer....although I did get a free pint)

A little blurry.. but it's the only picture I have of the River Liffey! It's been there a long time.

We had dinner at the oldest pub in ireland. And confirmed by our tour guide on another hop on hop off bus tour- it really was the oldest. But the fish and chips weren't as good as those that we got in Edinburgh.

Yeah, I ate the "not for girls" candy bar and it was DELICIOUS

Oscar Wilde.. the only colored statue in Dublin.

Westminster Abbey (NOT parliament) at approx. 4 pm... so 15 mins after it closed. At least Jean and I have been there already?

You can't tell, but I'm on my cell phone talking to Jean who's on the pay phone.
After this we decided to grab dinner in Chinatown (dim sum! yum!) and then we saw Memoirs of a Geisha which hasn't come out yet in France. It was so good! And although the reason we did it was to call it an early night because of our early tour the next day.. we didn't make it back until late. ah well, it was worth it.

That up there is the Queen's flag which means that she was in! Also I should mention the third of the queen's official residences that we saw. First being Holyroot in Edinburgh where her furniture arrives the day before she does and leaves the day after she leaves, and the second being Buckingham which we saw after we missed Westminster.

The Moat garden. (is that how you spell moat?)

And I just deleted the part that is her private living area.. and I don't feel like putting it back so oh well!

Us at Stonehenge!!!! (Couldn't you tell from the little part right behind my head?) This is also the only picture of us where my face is not completely covered by hair because it was SO windy!!
also- I wish I had a joke to make about it being 18", but I don't, so I'm going to leave it at that.

sttttttoooooneeeeeeeeehhhhheeeeennnngggeeee. You know they don't let people walk up to it anymore except on the summer solstice. Kinda sucks, but its nice for pictures because no one's in them! And it's not like you're THAT far away.. they have a roped off path that goes all the way around.

I like this one.

Next stop on our Windsor-Stoneheng-Bath tour was obviously Bath. We didn't get to see the town much, but we saw everything there was to see at the Roman Baths. And this is that.

Leaving bath.
